What is the address for the ceremony/reception venue?

Both the ceremony (outdoors, weather permitting) and reception (on a covered deck) are being held at:

Avalon Legacy Ranch is handicap accessible and the staff can ferry guests on golf carts if necessary. There is a short walk between the ceremony site and the reception.

What's the easiest way to get to and from your wedding venue(s)?

We will be providing shuttle service between the Sheraton at McKinney and Avalon Legacy Ranch. Ahead of the ceremony, there will be a shuttle at times TBD. After the reception, the shuttle will be transporting guests back to the hotel at times TBD.

There is free parking at the venue in a gravel parking lot. The gravel can be a little difficult to traverse for walkers and wheelchairs. The staff will provide golf cart service for any guests.

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors??

Simple Answer: Both

Our afternoon ceremony will be held at the outdoor chapel, while cocktail hour and the reception will take place on the covered deck. Guests will walk to the garden on paved pathways, but will need to step on grass briefly to take their seats. For that reason, stiletto or otherwise-thin heels are not recommended. Golf cart service provided for elderly and disabled guests.

Ceremony will be held on the covered deck if it rains.

Have you reserved blocks of rooms at one or more hotels?

We have reserved a room block at the Sheraton McKinney. Please book your stay by September 30 to guarantee a room in our block. Use this booking link or mention the Cox-Knapp wedding while booking to receive our reduced rate of $139/night.

If you miss the deadline to reserve a room in our block, reach out to the hotel and mention our wedding anyway—they may be able to accommodate you with our discount in a room outside of our block. If not, you can find additional nearby accommodations on our travel page.

What's the dress code for your wedding?

Cocktail attire or dressy casual attire. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident for a more stress-free environment. We are all here to have fun!

What is the weather and climate like in the area?

Most of our guests have not had the pleasure of experiencing the hot and dry (compared to the east coast) Dallas area weather. It cools off to the 70s near the end of October. Last year, there was a high of 77° F and a low of 57° F on Halloween. It should be fairly comfortable and far less sweat inducing than the summer months. You can track the AccuWeather forecast here.

What will the food and drink be like?

We will have an open bar with beer, wine, and mixed drinks. Passed Hors d 'Oeuvres will be passed around at cocktail hour. Dinner will be served at the table, so you don’t have to pick only one thing to eat — you can sample everything. Wine will also have tableside service. Please let us know if you have any allergies aside from nut allergies. The menu has vegetarian and vegan options.

• Preset salad: Romaine Ceaser Wedge with cherry tomatoes, house-made croutons and shaved parmesan on the side served with balsamic vinaigrette and traditional caesar dressing

• Grilled beef tenderloin medallions with mushroom sherry wine sauce

• Grilled Mexican Chicken topped with cumin, tomato sauce, tortilla strips and cheddar cheese

• Quinoa Stuffed Peppers with marinara (vegan)

• Creamy Three Cheese Mac and Cheese (vegetarian)

• Roasted Garlic and Chive Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes (vegan)

• Grilled Seasonal Vegetables to include: acorn squash, broccoli, red peppers, cauliflower heirloom carrots, asparagus and green beans (vegan)
